Mentoring Opportunity: I Want To Support Writers

Having more — and more nuanced — stories and representations matters to me.
Having published two books exploring stigmatised lived experiences, I want to support other writers navigating the complex emotional and relational questions that may arise when writing about lived experience — particularly experiences that face stigma, including (but not limited to) mental health difficulties.
Questions such as:
• How much do I want to disclose and how can I do this in a way that works for me?
• What feels safe — or unsafe — to share, and how can I tell the difference?
• How do I balance openness with privacy?
• How can I protect my relationships in the process of publishing a book?
• Where is the edge of my comfort zone, and how do I recognise my boundaries?
• How can I navigate my past self colliding with my present self whilst writing — and the strong emotions that may arise?
• How can I prepare emotionally for publication, and for the emotions that may arise with my writing being read?
I have space to support one writer at the moment. I’m doing this free of charge because I believe representation is invaluable. You can be at any stage in the creation of your manuscript, whether you have signed a contract with a publisher or not.
